Key West Jet Ski

Key West Jet Ski

I had one crazy summer. As soon school ended, my parents took me far away from Baton Rouge. Well, not that far, really just a couple miles away to orange beach. It was truly amazing there, the sand, the beach balls, the water, the ever-present smell of sunscreen, and the Doritos. My family really enjoys traveling, and we were about to go to an even better place then orange beach.

About 3 weeks after my trip to orange beach, my parents announced that we were going to key West. We packed our bags and flew to Key West and were unpacked in a few hours. We wanted a way to see the whole island of Key West and all of its prettiness. We saw an ad for a jet ski around the entire island! We quickly signed up and were soon jet skiing around the entire island. Some parts were calm and crystal clear, and others were rough and dark. However, I had fun no matter what was put in my path!
The Knife of Never Letting Go

This book starts off very mysterious, and off the bat, it has me completely confused. The book slowly gives details as to why everyone is mentally screaming out the first thing that comes in their head. Basically, a war happens, all the women die, and men are left with no privacy. This is not the type of book that takes it easy on you. Immediately, all of these crazy things occur without explanation, leaving the reader in utter confusion.

Most books start off relatively simple and get more complex as you read them. This a good strategy because it keeps the reader on their toes and wondering what will happen next. However, "The Knife of Never Letting Go" throws you into pure action and uncertainty. This forces the reader to want to know what on earth is happening. Another thing I notice when reading this book is that as soon as one question is answered, another one appears.

The Pearl

The pearl is a story of a poor father named Kino and mother named Juana's who's baby child, Koyotito, has been stung by a scorpion. They attempt to receive medical attention for Koyotito, however the doctor of their village refuses to help because they have no money. I feel this book really shows to what extent parents will go to protect their child. No matter what obstacle was put in these parents way, they would conquer it to protect their child.

This book also explains that no matter what happens to a person, they must stay strong and not forget their morals or the reason behind the actions they take. This occurence happened to Kino. He almost severely hurt his wife and soon deeply regretted his cruel actions. Even after these characters witness themselves go mad, they still pull through. It also shows that Characters that are greedy eventually get their payback.

Free Post

In this year of English I expect many things. First of all, I expect to become a much more capable reader. I think we are expected to read throughout this year, and I am extremely excited about it. However, if we are forced to read a certain book that I do not like, I will enjoy reading a lot less. I personally love to read a good action packed book with suspense and a message behind it. You know, those books that you just can not put down.

My second expectation is to become not just a better writer, but a more comfortable writer. People always talk about becoming a better writer, but if you can not comfortably write short blogs like this, you will never truly become a better writer. It really helps that we are doing these blogs so often. Our 8th grade teacher assigned us short writing assignments as well. I feel that those assignments really helped me become a more mature and experienced writer. I hope that this year I can become an even more experienced writer.
